Wow...What A Crazy Weekend

I was so excited for late-start Friday this last weekend, an entire two hours to sleep in. Psyche!! We were woken up to a phone call from Andrew's brother-in-law informing us that their 'baby mama' was in labor. I was very excited for them! Their little boy, my nephew, was born that morning weighing 7 lbs. 1 oz. Hyram Jacquith Martin Buchanan is his name. He is so adorable! I love holding him when I go visit. Can't wait/totally can wait to have a kid of my own!
Well anyway, so work was way nice. I got there about 9 in the morning, then as soon as the students got there, I got to take the kids who were on level 3 and up to breakfast! I was so excited to get paid to eat! ha ha. We went to Star Cafe in Layton. It was very good for a cheap price. Once I got back, I only had like four hours of work left. What a great way to start the weekend!
I worked Saturday, so that wasn't very exciting. Sunday was church, then we went to visit Hyrum, Mom, Dad, and Baby Mama. It was a fun visit. Monday was my great-uncle's funeral. He passed away Friday, but he had been through so much that it was his time to go. I was asked to play 'Amazing Grace' on the piano while his granddaughters sang. Oh wow, what a joke that was!! The piano was a gorgeous electric baby grand, I want one in my future home so bad! I had practiced the entire weekend, but still had a few spots with bumps and scratches. When it came time to play, we hadn't rehearsed together at all. They stood on the complete opposite side of the room from me. I could hardly hear them as they 'sang.' It was so hard!! But, everyone knew we had no time to practice, so they forgave us. :)
I taught my first lesson today at CHS. I was quite nervous, but it turned out pretty well. I'm teaching science, yuck! But...it's okay, I can do it! The new chapter is on light and sound, so I played a quick video of the Blue Man Group. I love them!! I really hope I get to see them again soon. They're amazing! The rest of class the students worked on the worksheets. Bleh, I hate worksheets, but I don't really know what else to do. Hopefully I'll be able to find better, and more fun ways of teaching science.
This week is going to be a fun one, I hope. Tonight Andrew and I are going on a triple date with Justin, Maria, John, and Corissa. I'm so excited! We're going to a haunted house, not quite sure which one yet. I don't have to work Friday, but have a training to attend, yay!! Not!! Saturday the plan is to see a movie, hopefully Paranormal Activity, with Rick and Syd then go to their place for the evening playing games and whatnot. I'm very excited!

And I Had What Job For The Last Year???...

Well, it's my fourth day at my new job, and I am still loving it!! I seriously don't know why I stayed at the job I was at. Don't get me wrong, I loved it! But...this job is SO much better! I'm not quite sure if it's the age group or the different levels of classes, but it's a lot of fun! Seriously, last year I was constantly hovering an elementary student age 5-12. Now I sit at a desk, make charts, track behavior, and talk. It's so much easier!

Life Has Consequences

Well, I was all hyped up and excited for my new job, until today. I came in from recess and ready to go home when Brad, the teacher, tells me that tomorrow is my last day. I was, and still am in shock! I only put my two weeks in yesterday, Monday, and now my last day is Wednesday!! Ah! I was so close to tears, and they finally came out when talking to Kelli on my way out. I just can't believe how quickly they moved.
I need to call the principal at CHS to see when I should start, but I'm a little nervous. I am still very excited to be moving on in my life to a full-time job at a high school, but very sad to leave all the kids I came to love at the elementary school. Tomorrow will be a hard day for sure, but life and her consequences, both positive and negative, always come and I always am able to make the best of it. Wish me luck tomorrow, and whenever my first day will be. :)

Crazy Weekend

Wow, what a weekend we had!! First of all, Andrew got a job Thursday at McDonalds. I'm excited he found employment. Then, I had a job interview Friday. I was pretty pumped for it, it was a full-time teacher assistant with benefits. I tried to get one over the summer, but didn't succeed. This job was at Clearfield High School. It was perfect, health insurance, double the hours/pay, in high school (I want to teach high school), etc. I went to the interview feeling confident, and felt like it went pretty well. I left, and immediately called Andrew. I told him how it went and that we would see. I let him go, and about two minutes later I got a call from CHS. They informed me that they wanted to hire me. I was SO excited! I got through the phone call with a huge smile on my face. When I hung up I squealed, then realized I hadn't quite ended the call. Embarrassing!! I am so excited to start my new job in about two weeks, but I'm also terrified. You see, it's in the behavioral unit. In the interview he told me he's had T.A.'s get their glasses broken, been kicked, etc. I'm terrified, but still stoked!!
That night we went out to celebrate with my family. Afterwards we went to Lagoon. We went through a haunted house and got separated. Andrew was in a different group than me and had an incident with one of the characters. Oh wow, we had no idea it was going to go as far as it did, but we had to deal with it the next day at work!! Lucky for us, we have wonderful managers that backed us up completely. They all were so concerned for us, and did all they could to get it in our favor. Lucky for us, they succeeded and he's home and we're living life like usual. I have never been more grateful for great friends than I was this past weekend. Thanks again!!
I got home and heard some of the worst news possible Saturday. The American Fork Marching Band was involved in a crash coming home from the competition in Idaho. One of their leaders passed away in an attempt to save the students. Luckily, she was the only one seriously injured. My prayers and thoughts are with the American Fork Marching Band.
Sunday was a wonderful day to rest. Neither of us worked and we went to all of church then relaxed at home. It was so nice. We played Monopoly, which I totally kicked butt in :)
This weekend started on such a high note, went way low, then lower, and ended in an up'ish note. (I don't have school this week). Hope fully the week continues to be a great week for us.
