Thanksgiving Break

Well, I'm a little delayed, but oh well! Our Thanksgiving Break was started a week early. We went to Denver, CO for a Denver Bronco game! We drove there Saturday morning, went to the game on Sunday, then drove home Monday morning. It was a quick vacation, but it sure was fun! We went with my boss, Doug, his wife, Julie, their baby, Carly, and our friend Salome who babysat. We stayed at my 2nd cousin's house. Oh wow, it was so nice! They had a huge house, Andrew and I got to sleep on a water bed. Salome got the other bedroom. Doug and Julie slept on an air matress in their fun basement! They had a huge, huge television, with every gaming system you could even think of! Then they also had a dart board (ha ha, if you want a laugh have Andrew, Salome, and Doug show you their 'mad' skills), fuse ball table, pool table, and a hockey table. If you couldn't tell...we spent almost our whole vacation in the basement!

We went to the city on Sunday for the game. We parked at the Aquarium and walked over to the Mile High Stadium. We had to walk all the way around the stadium to get our tickets that were on will call. Since we got them half-price, we went through security, then got our tickets. Well...they didn't have any tickets under the name Andrew Hardy. Which was weird because he's the one that booked them. The card that had been used four or so months previously had now been destroyed so he couldn't run the card. Luckily, we had the confirmation number. As our last resort to get the tickets, we used that number. For some crazy reason, they had the tickets on hold for a Andrew Gayler. How crazy is that! Well, luckily Andrew brought along his wife, me, to show my ID and prove that it was my maiden name. The guy had a confused look on his face, said "Whatever..." and handed us our cards. Our seats were near the very top of the stadium, but they were still good seats. We had a lot of fun at the game, except for the fact that they had a terrible game! The drunk people that surrounded us were entertaining enough to distract me for most of the game lol.

We went home that night and Janine, my 2nd cousin, had fixed us another wonderful homecooked meal. She spoiled us with all the wonderful dinners, breakfasts, and desserts! When we woke up the next morning to head out and they had pulled out all of their cereal for us to have breakfast.

I couldn't be more thankful than to have such a wonderful family that allowed us to stay in their home! Thanks Chappie and Janine!

Thanksgiving was spent at my house. I made yams! They surprisingly turned out to be very delicious! I was so proud. Aunt Cherri, Aunt Coleen and Uncle Richard came up to our house to have our big feast. We ate til we were stuffed then had some fun playing board games while the boys played football. Andrew and I left shortly after to have dessert at his parent's house. We had a lot of fun at the Hardy's house.

We are very thankful for many things that we often take granted of: food, clothes, housing, jobs, education, family, friends, vehicles, electricity, religion, and many more.

Another Week

Wow, time flies so quickly. This week has come and is leaving quickly. What do I have to show for it? Nothing too exciting has happened this week with Andrew or I. We've both just been working and going to school. Such a mundane life we have!

Last Friday our brother(in-law) got married. We didn't really think we would ever hear him say the words "I do." But...he did. He is happily married to Nikki. The wedding was very simple and pretty in the church. Their reception was held at a friend's house. I didn't go, but I heard it was pretty fun.

I had a meeting with my advisor at the University of Utah yesterday. She is an amazing woman! She asked me about my husband, my Dad, and how life is going. I have never had an advisor sincerely care as much as she does. I was expecting her to not remember the stuff we had talked about just before fall semester, but she did. Well, she sets up my schedules and tells me what classes to take when. Instead of only doing this semester's scheduling, she did my scheduling until I graduate! I was very surprised when I only have four more semesters after this one. This means I will graduate with my BS and licensure in Spring of 2011! I'm so excited!

I am quite bummed for tonight. My family and husband are going to the Davis High School football game tonight at the U. I was so excited to go with them. We were going to take the Front Runner, then Trax up to the stadium. Well...I was then rudely reminded by Andrew that I have winterguard practice that same night. This is the second week I have thought that the same Friday aren't on the same day! What a dummy! I am so sad I can't go with them, but I am very excited to visit with Corissa on my way up to practice.

Wow...What A Crazy Weekend

I was so excited for late-start Friday this last weekend, an entire two hours to sleep in. Psyche!! We were woken up to a phone call from Andrew's brother-in-law informing us that their 'baby mama' was in labor. I was very excited for them! Their little boy, my nephew, was born that morning weighing 7 lbs. 1 oz. Hyram Jacquith Martin Buchanan is his name. He is so adorable! I love holding him when I go visit. Can't wait/totally can wait to have a kid of my own!
Well anyway, so work was way nice. I got there about 9 in the morning, then as soon as the students got there, I got to take the kids who were on level 3 and up to breakfast! I was so excited to get paid to eat! ha ha. We went to Star Cafe in Layton. It was very good for a cheap price. Once I got back, I only had like four hours of work left. What a great way to start the weekend!
I worked Saturday, so that wasn't very exciting. Sunday was church, then we went to visit Hyrum, Mom, Dad, and Baby Mama. It was a fun visit. Monday was my great-uncle's funeral. He passed away Friday, but he had been through so much that it was his time to go. I was asked to play 'Amazing Grace' on the piano while his granddaughters sang. Oh wow, what a joke that was!! The piano was a gorgeous electric baby grand, I want one in my future home so bad! I had practiced the entire weekend, but still had a few spots with bumps and scratches. When it came time to play, we hadn't rehearsed together at all. They stood on the complete opposite side of the room from me. I could hardly hear them as they 'sang.' It was so hard!! But, everyone knew we had no time to practice, so they forgave us. :)
I taught my first lesson today at CHS. I was quite nervous, but it turned out pretty well. I'm teaching science, yuck! But...it's okay, I can do it! The new chapter is on light and sound, so I played a quick video of the Blue Man Group. I love them!! I really hope I get to see them again soon. They're amazing! The rest of class the students worked on the worksheets. Bleh, I hate worksheets, but I don't really know what else to do. Hopefully I'll be able to find better, and more fun ways of teaching science.
This week is going to be a fun one, I hope. Tonight Andrew and I are going on a triple date with Justin, Maria, John, and Corissa. I'm so excited! We're going to a haunted house, not quite sure which one yet. I don't have to work Friday, but have a training to attend, yay!! Not!! Saturday the plan is to see a movie, hopefully Paranormal Activity, with Rick and Syd then go to their place for the evening playing games and whatnot. I'm very excited!

And I Had What Job For The Last Year???...

Well, it's my fourth day at my new job, and I am still loving it!! I seriously don't know why I stayed at the job I was at. Don't get me wrong, I loved it! But...this job is SO much better! I'm not quite sure if it's the age group or the different levels of classes, but it's a lot of fun! Seriously, last year I was constantly hovering an elementary student age 5-12. Now I sit at a desk, make charts, track behavior, and talk. It's so much easier!

Life Has Consequences

Well, I was all hyped up and excited for my new job, until today. I came in from recess and ready to go home when Brad, the teacher, tells me that tomorrow is my last day. I was, and still am in shock! I only put my two weeks in yesterday, Monday, and now my last day is Wednesday!! Ah! I was so close to tears, and they finally came out when talking to Kelli on my way out. I just can't believe how quickly they moved.
I need to call the principal at CHS to see when I should start, but I'm a little nervous. I am still very excited to be moving on in my life to a full-time job at a high school, but very sad to leave all the kids I came to love at the elementary school. Tomorrow will be a hard day for sure, but life and her consequences, both positive and negative, always come and I always am able to make the best of it. Wish me luck tomorrow, and whenever my first day will be. :)

Crazy Weekend

Wow, what a weekend we had!! First of all, Andrew got a job Thursday at McDonalds. I'm excited he found employment. Then, I had a job interview Friday. I was pretty pumped for it, it was a full-time teacher assistant with benefits. I tried to get one over the summer, but didn't succeed. This job was at Clearfield High School. It was perfect, health insurance, double the hours/pay, in high school (I want to teach high school), etc. I went to the interview feeling confident, and felt like it went pretty well. I left, and immediately called Andrew. I told him how it went and that we would see. I let him go, and about two minutes later I got a call from CHS. They informed me that they wanted to hire me. I was SO excited! I got through the phone call with a huge smile on my face. When I hung up I squealed, then realized I hadn't quite ended the call. Embarrassing!! I am so excited to start my new job in about two weeks, but I'm also terrified. You see, it's in the behavioral unit. In the interview he told me he's had T.A.'s get their glasses broken, been kicked, etc. I'm terrified, but still stoked!!
That night we went out to celebrate with my family. Afterwards we went to Lagoon. We went through a haunted house and got separated. Andrew was in a different group than me and had an incident with one of the characters. Oh wow, we had no idea it was going to go as far as it did, but we had to deal with it the next day at work!! Lucky for us, we have wonderful managers that backed us up completely. They all were so concerned for us, and did all they could to get it in our favor. Lucky for us, they succeeded and he's home and we're living life like usual. I have never been more grateful for great friends than I was this past weekend. Thanks again!!
I got home and heard some of the worst news possible Saturday. The American Fork Marching Band was involved in a crash coming home from the competition in Idaho. One of their leaders passed away in an attempt to save the students. Luckily, she was the only one seriously injured. My prayers and thoughts are with the American Fork Marching Band.
Sunday was a wonderful day to rest. Neither of us worked and we went to all of church then relaxed at home. It was so nice. We played Monopoly, which I totally kicked butt in :)
This weekend started on such a high note, went way low, then lower, and ended in an up'ish note. (I don't have school this week). Hope fully the week continues to be a great week for us.

Just Startin

Well...I'm completely new to this, so we'll see how it goes. Let's get an update on Heidi's life! Oh yay... ha ha.
Well first off, I'm engaged to my best friend, Andrew Hardy. We've been dating since I was a junior in high school and decided last September to tie the knot. He proposed in October at the Gateway fountain. My family was there, so that was fun. I was being a bum though because it was cold and he wanted me to come play in the fountain with him. After I caught on I went in to play and he proposed then. I so regret not going to begin with, but oh well, what can you do? I have always wanted a surprise purposal, but instead I got surprised with the ring. It's my Grandma's wedding set and I thought it was still getting fit, surprise! Afterwards we went out to eat at Applebees, yummy! We're getting married on Tuesday, yes Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Barnes Park in Kaysville. So excited and can't wait for it to be here!
I'm going to Weber State University, well for a few more days at least. I've got my generals done, for the most part. Next fall I am transferring to the University of Utah to get my bachelor's degree in Special Education, with a severe endorsement. I can't wait! I currently am a manager at Lagoon as well as a teacher's assistant at Eagle Bay Elementary School in Farmington for a functional needs classroom.
My life is pretty hectic right now, but I'm not complaining much. Trying to finish up the basement, it will be my first 'apartment/home' after Andrew and I are married. We'll have our own little kitchen, family room, bedroom (duh!), as well as a bathroom with a shower to be coming shortly. Our family room/kitchen is painted a bright green and tealish blue color. I love it, although most who walk in don't. Oh well, all that matters is that Andrew and I love it :)
Well, that's it for now. Enjoy your day!
